CMS Berlin Update - Day 1
Number of the day
Finally live again: CMS Berlin 2023 opens today in Berlin
At 10 a.m., the time has come: the eleventh CMS opens its doors to trade visitors at the Messegelände am Funkturm. From September 19 to 22, 2023, the international cleaning industry will meet in Berlin at the leading trade fair for cleaning and hygiene.
Mario Tobias, Chairman of the Board of Management of Messe Berlin, and Dirk Hoffmann, Chief Operating Officer Messe Berlin, will welcome Berlin's State Secretary for Construction Alexander Slotty, Federal Guild Master Thomas Dietrich, Bundesinnungsverband des Gebäudereiniger-Handwerks (BIV), Frank Ulbricht, Chairman of the Cleaning Systems Association of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) and Markus Häfner, Chairman of the Building Cleaning Division of the Industrial Association for Hygiene and Surface Protection for Industrial and Institutional Use (IHO) at 10.30 a.m. at the Messe Entrance South.
During an opening tour, participants will get an overview of the leading trade fair for cleaning and hygiene. 421 exhibitors from 25 countries will present their products and services on more than 31,000 square meters of hall and outdoor exhibition space. The exhibitors have announced 86 innovations, of which 29 are trade fair premieres and 9 are world premieres. The innovations will be presented in the CMS Berlin Innovations Report.
This year, special emphasis will be placed on live presentations of products and cleaning operations, for example. Particularly successful innovations will be honored by the jury of the Purus Innovation Awards (PIA) today at 5:30 p.m. in the Marshall Haus.
In addition, CMS Berlin offers visitors numerous opportunities for knowledge transfer and networking. Today, for example, the Practical Forum will provide answers to questions about sustainability. Tomorrow, the Mobility Cleaning Circle will bring together representatives from the cleaning industry and the mobility sector. On all days of the trade show, exhibitors will give short presentations on topics such as sustainability, digital solutions and new materials in the Speakers' Corner in Hall 5.2. You can find all information on the supporting program at https://www.cms-berlin.de/de/.
CMS Practice Forum: Learning from professionals
At the CMS Practice Forum in Hall 6.2, industry professionals will share their knowledge on all days of the trade fair. For the exchange of knowledge, CMS Berlin has put together an exclusive program of lectures and events in cooperation with the Bundesinnungsverband des Gebäudereiniger-Handwerks (BIV), the Fachverband Reinigungssysteme im Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (VDMA), the Industrieverband Hygiene und Oberflächenschutz für industrielle und institutionelle Anwendung (IHO) and companies from the cleaning industry.
BIV General Manager Wolfgang Molitor will open the CMS Praxisforum today at 11 am. Susanne Zänker, Director General of the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products (A.I.S.E.), will then explain what the Green Deal means for the cleaning industry. Other speakers will deal with sustainability seals for cleaning agents and new requirements for cleaning machines. This is because more and more clients are demanding environmentally compatible building services. Christine Sundhop, Managing Director of Technology and Business Administration at the BIV, will provide information on the latest guidelines issued by the German Federal Environmental Agency.
Tomorrow, the focus will be on hygiene in the morning. It plays a particularly important role for healthcare providers and in hospitals. After the lunch break, it's all about data protection and IT. There are still digitalization deficits in the industry. The speakers will provide suggestions on how these can be remedied.
On Thursday, September 21, the CMS Practical Forum will focus on topics such as daytime cleaning, digital employee instructions and the use of exoskeletons as ergonomic support for physical work. The special requirements for cleanliness and sustainability in the hotel industry will be the topic on September 22. A lecture and a panel will provide an outlook on the trends in green housekeeping.
Curtain up for six winners: Purus Innovation Awards ceremony in the evening
83 companies entered their products for the Purus Innovation Awards (PIA) at CMS Berlin 2023 - an absolute record turnout. 18 of them made it to the final round of the total of six competition categories. Today, the jury will announce the six winners at the CMS opening evening in the Marshall Haus.
The categories announced were "Large Machines," "Small Machines," "Equipment," and "Digital Tools and Systems," in which the PIA was already awarded at the last CMS in 2019. New additions this year were the categories "Washroom Hygiene" and "Cleaning Agents."
The call for entries in the spring was followed by an impressive number and variety of innovative products and creative solutions submitted by cleaning industry companies for the competition. The winners in the six categories were determined by the high-caliber jury of nine experts in a second round of voting immediately before the start of CMS Berlin.
The CMS Purus Innovation Award is considered one of the most prestigious industry awards. It honors products, tools and systems that impress with their high application quality and outstanding overall design. The festive award ceremony is the focus of the CMS opening evening in the Marshall House, which will be attended by around 250 invited guests starting at 5:30 pm.
The welcome address by Dirk Hoffmann, Chief Operating Officer Messe Berlin, will be followed by a short round of talks with Thomas Dietrich, Chairman of the Federal Association of the Building Cleaning Trade (BIV), Frank Ulbricht, Chairman of the Cleaning Systems Association (VDMA) and Markus Häfner, Chairman of the Building Cleaning Division of the Hygiene and Surface Protection Industry Association (IHO). Afterwards, the nine jury members will present the PIA Awards to the winners. Soul singer Nathalie Dorra will then accompany the social part of the evening with All Style Lounge Music.
