Hotels and catering form an important target group

Cleanliness is decisive for guests’ well-being

The CMS Practical Forum on 25 September is the International platform for expertise in cleaning and hygiene, aimed specifically at representatives of the hotel and catering sector

Taking place from 24 to 27 September, CMS Berlin 2019 – Cleaning. Management.Services. is the most important platform for expertise in cleaning and hygiene. Its main target groups include responsible personnel in the hotel and catering sectors, and there are few industries that place such an emphasis on the importance of cleanliness and hygiene for ensuring personal wellbeing. According to the Hotel Plain Index 2017 guests assign the highest priority to cleanliness. When asked “What would you be most likely to complain about in a hotel?”, two thirds of respondents referred to a “dirty room”. This aspect takes precedence over “unfriendly staff” (57 %), “uncomfortable beds” (56 %) and “unexpected costs” (51 %). Consequently the representatives of the hotel and catering sectors form an important target group at this four-day trade show. The CMS Practical Forum (Hall 6.2) on 25 September is specifically aimed that these industry representatives.

Innovative solutions for hotels and catering

As Heike Hemmer, project manager for CMS Berlin emphasises, “CMS Berlin presents innovative solutions specifically for the hotel and catering sectors”, “Service providers in the cleaning industry, restaurant operators and caterers, hotel professionals and housekeepers, as well as buyers from these sectors will find a complete overview of current products for these markets at CMS Berlin. These help to improve everyday work, make businesses processes more effective and promote safer hygiene”, Hemmer explains.

New products on display at this trade show include ergonomic equipment, smart machinery both large and small, highly efficient and sustainable sanitary cleaners as well as, and products to assist with the organisation of laundry services, as well as software tools for improving the planning of cleaning times, the deployment of personnel and quality management.

Thomas Lengfelder, Chief Executive of the Berlin Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA Berlin): “Cleanliness and hygiene are the best possible advertisement for every individual hotel and the city too. This starts with the view of the city through clean windows, and also encompasses a spotlessly clean bath, and also includes the hotel kitchen. Legislators impose very exacting demands, which we as hosts in Berlin, representing everything from hostels to 5 star hotels, are more than capable of meeting. Moreover many hotels use products that are both ecological and sustainable. In brief: cleanliness and hygiene are essential feel-good factors and we implement these high standards in our day to day work.”

And the opportunities that a trade fair such as CMS Berlin offers trade visitors from this sector of the market are described by Marlene Meyer, director of the Hotel Services Department, GRG Services Hamburg GmbH & Co. KG: “Implementing hygiene standards in the cleaning process is presenting increasing challenges. Suitable personnel have to be found and trained. This demands good organisation of staff, cleaning materials, application systems, time and costs. New approaches have to be found and tested. CMS Berlin is the ideal place to search for these solutions and to discuss them.”
